Additionally, the superior ductility and weldability of carbon steels make them suitable for a broad array of applications. Electrical steel is on the other hand is an extremely specialized grade of steel that is composed of silicon (typically around 3%). This enhances the magnetic properties, and also reduces the loss of eddy-current. This makes it ideal for laminations and transformer cores of electric motors.
